Position Summary
Our Millwork Production Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily shop-floor operations in a custom commercial millwork fabrication environment. This role leads and coordinates production staff, ensures work is executed according to shop drawings and specifications, maintains quality standards, and delivers projects on schedule while promoting a safe, efficient, and professional shop culture.
The Foreman is a hands-on leader who balances craftsmanship, productivity, and team development while acting as a key link between project management, engineering, and production. They will be working in concert with our Operations Manager and our Project Manager to ensure all projects are completed on time and in line with the designers expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Scheduling
- Supervise day-to-day millwork fabrication activities across all shop departments (machining, assembly, sanding, finishing coordination, etc.)
- Execute production schedules to meet project milestones and delivery dates
- Assign labor based on skill level, workload, and project priority
- Monitor production flow and proactively resolve bottlenecks or material issues
Quality Control
- Ensure millwork is fabricated per approved shop drawings, specifications, and industry standards
- Conduct in-process inspections to maintain high-quality craftsmanship
- Identify and correct fabrication errors before they impact schedule or install
- Enforce consistency in joinery, finishes, hardware installation, and detailing
Team Leadership & Training
- Lead, mentor, and develop shop personnel including cabinetmakers, machinists, and apprentices
- Set daily expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and workmanship
- Assist in onboarding and training new hires on shop processes, machinery, and safety
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and pride in craftsmanship
Safety & Shop Standards
- Enforce all OSHA, company safety policies, and equipment operating procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment (5S or similar systems)
- Conduct daily safety walk-throughs and address hazards immediately
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and shop equipment
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Estimators, and key stakeholders to clarify scope and resolve production questions
- Communicate production status, labor needs, and potential issues to management
- Participate in production meetings and provide input on sequencing and feasibility
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization
Materials & Resources
- Verify materials are staged, labeled, and ready for production
- Track material usage and minimize waste
- Coordinate with purchasing and inventory to ensure availability of required materials and hardware
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of experience in custom commercial millwork fabrication
- 2+ years in a leadership or foreman role in a production shop environment
- Strong understanding of shop drawings, architectural plans, and specifications
- High-level knowledge of woodworking machinery, CNC processes, and assembly techniques
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities under deadlines
Preferred
- Experience with casework, architectural millwork, and commercial interiors
- Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing or continuous improvement methods
- Ability to read and interpret CAD/CAM-generated shop drawings
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain

Compensation: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
